Katie DiPrete Joins the Team

katiedKatie DiPrete, a recent graduate of the University of Richmond in Virginia, has joined the team as an environmental scientist working with Chris Sutter.  Katie will be a full-time, familiar face around the office until she leaves in September to pursue a master’s degree in environmental science.

“I’m considering Duke University in North Carolina as well as URI,” says Katie.

Taking after her father, Dennis DiPrete, Katie has a full to-do list ahead: AutoCAD tutorials, soil testing, GPS mapping, wetland delineation and brushing up on stormwater concepts.

“Katie’s enthusiasm to gain experience in wetland and soil science, in addition to her Environmental degree, makes her a great addition to the team,” said Sutter. “This summer, we will be spending a lot of time in the field conducting wetland delineations, soil evaluations, and OWTS inspections.”

Katie’s interest in environmental studies stemmed from her internships at Save the Bay and Ecosystem Services in Virginia, and she looks forward to gaining a more hands on experience with DiPrete.

“It’s fascinating to go out and learn about something you can apply – something where you can use your own knowledge to create a final product,” says Katie.
