Steven Hopfenberg, Land Planner
Q: How long have you been with DiPrete and what led you to join the firm?
A: I joined the firm in 2014 after being unemployed for nearly a year. The opportunity to work with a firm with as good a reputation as DiPrete made it a no-brainer to accept the offer.
Q: What does your role as a Land Planner involve?
A: Generally, I am involved with the initial development of a project’s concept. A client may have some vision or direction but often they come to us without a clear notion of what is possible or practical for a site. In addition, I develop base plans for a variety of both conceptual and engineering uses.
Q: What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve had to overcome?
A: The evolution of software often results in significant challenges. Prior to my arrival DiPrete had used an Autodesk product for Marketing Plans (renderings). Autodesk ended this product and it was nearly two years before we found a product that could replace what we had previously used.
Q: What do you enjoy most about your job?
A: I enjoy working on the variety of projects that come through. Working on such a range of projects poses new challenges every day and keeps things interesting.
Q: How do you spend your time outside of work?
A: In addition to being an avid Patriots (and all Boston sports) fan and a long-time season ticket holder, I am the current Vice President of Harmony Lodge, one of 2 Lodges in the Touro Fraternal Association, a Jewish Fraternal charitable and social organization which has been active in Rhode Island for over 100 years.
