Village on the Waterfront
DiPrete Engineering is currently working with The Village on the Waterfront LLC, Chevron Land and Development, Gates Leighton, GZA and DiMella Shaffer to redevelop a former light products terminal into a vibrant multi-use residential waterfront community.
The site is located on Veterans Memorial Parkway in East Providence and includes over 25 acres of upland along the Providence River. From 1909 to 1984 Gulf Oil operated a terminal on site that included the receipt, storage, and distribution of refined petroleum products. The storage tanks were removed in the late 1980's to early 1990's. The brownfield site will be remediated by ChevronTexaco.
The proposed development will be modeled on a traditional New England-style waterfront village. Current plans call for over 600 condominium units, a town square with a restaurant, fitness center, clubhouse and first-floor retail space. In addition to the condominiums, a 250-unit apartment complex is being proposed within two buildings on the northern section of the site. The project will provide public access along the waterfront, including bike paths and a marina.
DiPrete Engineering's scope includes regulatory permitting plans and reports to the City of East Providence, RIDEM, RIDOT and CRMC.
