Garden City Expansion
Cranston, RI
Garden City Center, Rhode Island’s premier outdoor shopping venue, is currently executing a multi-phased strategy to expand, reconfigure, and redevelop the historic shopping center.
The first phase of the plan extends Garden City’s “Village” to the south with the addition of a new 14,000 square foot building immediately adjacent to Papa Razzi in an area presently utilized for customer parking. The new space will be home to two premier national retailers. At the same time, the iconic Garden City gazebo will be transformed from the end-cap of the Village into the new focal point for the center.
DiPrete Engineering teamed with The Wilder Companies of Boston, MA to engineer the site and obtain approvals from the City of Cranston Planning and Zoning Boards, the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, Veolia Water, and Providence Water. Construction is almost complete and the first of the two stores is expected to open in February 2013.
