The North Providence Public Safety Complex has opened the doors to its new facility located on Mineral Spring Avenue adjacent to Longview Reservoir and directly across from the North Providence High School. An official ribbon cutting was recently held for the $28 million project designed by RGB Architects and constructed by Ahlborg Construction Company.

The new 67,000 square foot safety complex provides both police and fire personnel with a new state-of-the-art headquarters in the center of town. The two-story building includes a shared lobby, communication center, and fitness center. Police cruisers are located on the site behind the secure staff parking, allowing fire apparatus to loop around the back of the site to multiple pull through parking areas.

DiPrete Engineering teamed with StormTrap and J.R. Vinagro Corporation to design and install an underground stormwater system capable of capturing and treating stormwater runoff on the site.

“Together we were able to develop a system that was efficient and cost effective,” said Brandon Carr, Project Manager at DiPrete Engineering. “The tank was designed to counter the forces of the groundwater pushing up on the system. The result is the largest StormTrap system ever installed in Rhode Island.”

DiPrete also provided site/civil engineering and survey services, and secured all necessary permitting through Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management and Rhode Island Department of Transportation.
