DiPrete Engineering has been a key contributor to the development of the new Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital, located at 2109 Hartford Avenue in Johnston, RI. Part of the broader Sitwell Park development, this 55,000-square-foot medical rehabilitation center is located within an 8-acre parcel, subdivided from the overall 18.5-acre development. As the nation’s largest owner and operator of inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, Encompass Health’s new facility is poised to offer vital services to the local community.
The hospital will serve as a crucial resource for patients recovering from surgeries, strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations, and complex orthopedic conditions, providing them with the intensive rehabilitative care needed to regain independence before returning home. With a 50-bed capacity, patients will benefit from a comprehensive care model that includes a minimum of three hours of therapy five days a week, frequent physician visits, and 24-hour nursing care.
DiPrete Engineering provided a range of services essential to the successful completion of this project, including land planning, land surveying, site grading, drainage, water and sewer services design, as well as securing local and state permits. The team also assisted throughout the construction process to ensure that the project met all necessary standards and was completed on time.
The hospital is designed with the patient’s comfort and recovery in mind, offering private rooms, a state-of-the-art therapy gym, an activities of daily living suite, and various amenities such as an in-house pharmacy, dining room, and therapy courtyard. These features, combined with the expertise of an interdisciplinary team of specialized nurses, therapists, and physicians, will provide high-quality rehabilitative care tailored to each patient’s needs.
DiPrete Engineering is honored to have contributed to a project that will have such a positive impact on the community. The firm’s work on this project reflects its commitment to excellence in engineering and our dedication to supporting developments that enhance the well-being of all New England communities.
