Q: How has your background shaped your career and how has your role with the firm evolved over the years?
A: My background is in architecture so when I got out of school I wasn’t thinking I was going to be a site designer or involved in proposal work. When I started working at DiPrete I was beginning to realize that architecture was only one facet of the entire design process and that there are several important phases such as site and civil engineering that make up the development process. I’ve always found it interesting to watch a project go from raw land to a fully developed site.
Q: What do you find most interesting about site design and proposal coordination?
A: I love being a part of the conceptual stages of the site design process such as the city/town or state regulatory research on a potential project. Every site is unique and has various features and constraints, so every site must be dealt with differently. I really enjoy the research process and seeing how each site is handled.
Q: Have there been any obstacles you’ve had to overcome over the course of your career?
A: I do a lot of the proposal preparation for our senior staff. I get a good majority of the groundwork complete and then send the proposals off for final edits and reviews. Occasionally, I’ll run into a project with complex regulatory permitting paths. Fortunately, my teammates are always helpful in collaborating on these projects – there are always plenty of resources around the office.
Q: Can you recall one of your proudest moments while working at DiPrete?
A: I’m always working on the proposal end of a project, so I’m constantly visualizing outcomes on paper. When I later see a project in person and fully built, it’s amazing. I feel like that for every project I work on.
Q: Outside of work, what are some of your hobbies/interests?
A: I love being active, working out, and living a healthy lifestyle. I also love spending time with my husband and my fur baby, decorating my home and refurnishing old furniture. When it’s nice out, I enjoy working in my garden. I also love getting away for a long weekend and going up to New Hampshire, my home away from home!
