DiPrete Engineering has teamed up with Wilson Architects, Thompson Consultants and Odeh Engineers to design the International Yacht Restoration School (IYRS) of Technology and Trades’ newest building at the Newport Campus. This building will bring its Composites Lab to Newport from its current location in Bristol.

The school’s new 20,240 sf building, which will be two stories tall above flood elevation and includes 32 parking spaces at grade below the building, is located on Thames Street in Newport. DiPrete and Wilson Architects are working together to create a structure that can endure any significant storms or flooding.

The site is currently under construction and the foundations are being installed.

Under Project Manager, Molly Titus‘ supervison, DiPrete Engineering has provided survey, full civil design including construction documents, state permitting through RIDEM and CRMC, and local permitting through zoning and planning.

When complete, the new IYRS building will be home to four programs, featuring 20,000 sf of classroom space and technology-based teaching areas for marine systems, composites technology and digital manufacturing on two upper floors.
