After deciding to consolidate their fleet maintenance, materials depot, and transformer storage buildings into one, National Grid recruited RGB Architects and DiPrete Engineering to evaluate potential locations for a new facility. Once the site was determined, DiPrete Engineering assisted with the development of a 25,000 sf fleet maintenance facility. This included four drive-through truck bays, storage bays, wash bays, and an open-air truck canopy with loading docks to accommodate four full-size tractor-trailers. Connecting the two truck service areas is the office and employee support services. In addition to access roads, parking areas, utility services, and stormwater management, the site includes a transformer storage pad/containment area. This provides storage for approximately 16 mobile transformers and an additional 30 pad-mounted transformers.
