Bluesphere is an international company that develops, manages and owns waste-to-energy facilities. Their 3.2 megawatt facility is located in Johnston, generating electricity using biogas derived from organic biomass (primarily food waste). The facility utilizes anaerobic digestion (a process that breaks down organic material) to produce biogas (primarily methane and carbon dioxide), from which electricity, is generated. DiPrete worked with Bluesphere and Austep to develop the facility. The engineering scope of the site included design of access roadways around equipment, parking areas, stormwater management, soil erosion and sediment control measures, new utilities, and landscaping.
