DiPrete Engineering is proud to announce that Chris Duhamel, a Professional Engineer and Professional Land Surveyor, has been promoted to Principal of the firm.

With over 30 years of land surveying and engineering experience across New England, Chris has been an essential member of DiPrete from day one.  He has worked with many of clients and team members to identify cost-saving measures and engineering techniques that have added value to both the firm and its clients.

In his new role as Principal, Chris will be responsible for improving the firm’s relationships with existing clients and extending opportunities to new clients. Client relationships are primarily enhanced through the evaluation of development potential as well as defining development challenges for projects of interest.

“Chris has been by my side since the beginning and I couldn’t be more proud of his continued quality of work,” said Dennis DiPrete, President of DiPrete Engineering. “He’s a natural problem solver, constantly working with our engineering team to find the quickest and most efficient ways to solve design issues and navigate regulatory challenges. His support and encouragement has helped a lot of people and projects.”

Recent projects Chris has worked on include Matunuck Oyster Bar’s 3,000 gallon commercial high strength wastewater OWTS design, and Cedar Ridge, a 104 unit condominium project in West Greenwich, RI.

Outside of work, Chris teaches the Senior Civil Engineering Capstone Design class at the University of Rhode Island. Chris serves as Vice President to the Providence Engineering Society Board of Directors. He served for 14 years on the Westerly Town Council as a member and as President and was also a member of the Town Planning Board. Chris has recently been re-appointed by Governor Gina Raimondo to the Rhode Island Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. He is also active in the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES)’s promotion of civil engineering student development.

“Everyone on our team looks up to Chris and holds high regard for his knowledge and experience of the engineering field,” added DiPrete. “His new promotion is not only a reflection of his service to DiPrete, but also to the entire civil engineering community in Southern New England. I’m honored to have him here as a Principal.”
