DiPrete Engineering is proud to support the ongoing rollout of Shell Recharge Solutions electric vehicle (EV) charging stations on behalf of Colbea Enterprises at Seasons Corner Market locations across Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. To date, DiPrete has worked on 17 total sites, with 10 now open to the public and 7 additional sites coming soon. These projects represent a growing regional effort to expand fast-charging infrastructure and make EV travel more convenient across New England.
Each site is equipped with Level 3 fast chargers, capable of providing a full charge in as little as 15 to 20 minutes. While the technology itself continues to evolve, DiPrete’s engineering team has played a key role in adapting to these advancements, working closely with clients to adjust to changing charger types and power requirements.
One of the biggest challenges has been navigating the complex permitting and utility coordination process. Grid capacity, ownership, and regulatory oversight vary widely from town to town, sometimes involving private utilities, and other times municipal systems. Several of these EV Fast Charging deployments represent the first EV chargers ever installed in their communities, requiring DiPrete to collaborate with local officials to establish permitting standards and technical requirements.
Beyond design and permitting, DiPrete’s team also assists in ensuring that each new charger location is uploaded to EV charging and location-sharing apps, allowing drivers to easily find and access them once operational.
