Q&A with Joe Duhamel

By December 13, 2017 Engineering News

Q: When did you know you wanted to be an engineer?

A: I knew at an early age that I wanted to be an engineer. My Dad (Chris Duhamel, Principal at DiPrete Engineering) would take me to a lot of his project sites. We would walk around, I would ask a lot of questions and he would always give an answer! He would always be saying “drainage” over and over. Even today we both laugh and say “drainage!”. Of course, my brother and sisters have no idea why we would laugh.

Q: How is it working with your father?

A: It’s a special thing to be able to work with my Dad. He has so much engineering knowledge, it’s great I get to have him as a go-to for any questions I have. I enjoy seeing him on a day-to-day basis and to just catch up all things engineering and family. It’s also great that I can ask “hey, want to sand some wood floors this weekend?” My Dad is always willing to help me with my work projects and house projects.

Q: What has been your most challenging project?

A: I think every project is challenging in different ways, which I find rewarding. Being I’m still young in my engineering career, every project has some aspect that’s new and challenging. Thankfully, I work with a great team at DiPrete.

Q: What do you enjoy most at DiPrete Engineering?

A: While we take our careers very seriously, we also work in a fun, family-oriented environment. It’s always great to catch up with everyone and learn what projects they are working on. DiPrete is always doing something fun in or out of the company.

Q: What’s your favorite thing to do in your off time?

A: I’m a family man, so I enjoy spending my days with family whether at pizza night every Friday or some other family function. My wife, Andrea and I, are always improving our house. We’re also teaching our daughter Peyton how to play fetch with our two dogs Ollie and Riley. We have the best of times and I look forward to many more!
