The first offshore wind turbines in North America have made their debut, and, better yet, they are located right here in Rhode Island! Deepwater Wind’s 30 megawatt, five-turbine Block Island Wind Farm are fully constructed and is supplying power to the mainland electrical grid thus reducing air pollution across southern New England.

This first-of-its-kind project required a multifaceted team to navigate the regulatory process both on and off shore. Dozens of consultants, attorneys, and regulatory agencies played a role in getting the project to where it is today. DiPrete Engineering played a small role when you consider all the effort attributed by the entire project team.

DiPrete Engineering would like to congratulate Deepwater Wind on the success of this project and wish them luck on their goal to grow and create an even larger wind farm!
