Mark Hollis, Civil Engineer

Q: How long have you been with DiPrete Engineering and what led you to join the firm?

A: I’ve been with DiPrete for a little over a year now.  I decided to join DiPrete after meeting with Greg Guglielmo, Eric Prive, and Brian Giroux because I had a good feeling about the leadership and the culture of the company.

Q: What does your role as a Civil Engineer involve?

A: My work usually starts at the project kickoff where the team discusses the background of the project, client needs, and a timeline for submission. From there we usually get into design work, followed by plan preparation and submission. Projects tend to come back around once the town or city has had a chance to review so there are always small changes to make to get a project across the finish line.

Q: What do you enjoy most about working at DiPrete?

A: I enjoy the problem-solving nature of engineering but mostly I enjoy being around and getting to know the people I work with.

Q: What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced while working on a project? How did you overcome it?

A: The biggest challenge I’ve faced is the project I’m currently working on. It is a massive site with a lot of moving parts and a tight timeline, but as a team we’re getting through it with good communication and a few extra hours of hard work.

Q: How do you like to spend your time outside of work?

A: I have a baby boy and a new home, so my days are full of diapers and demo, but in my spare moments I like to be active and go hiking.
