On behalf of DiPrete Engineering’s internship program, we’d like to introduce one of our summer interns, Amy Wengefeld.
A student at the University of Rhode Island (URI), Amy is looking forward to earning her master’s in environmental science and management with a concentration in wetland, watershed, and ecosystem science this December. She currently holds a B.S. in biology from Merrimack College and recently received a certification from URI in GIS and remote sensing.
“My favorite part about interning at DiPrete is having the opportunity to be involved in the field work,” said Amy.
Interning under her supervisor Chris Sutter, Environmental Scientist, Amy’s typical work week consists of LOD/wetland flagging, wetland delineation, OWTS supervision, and soil profile descriptions.
“The biggest challenge I’ve had to overcome so far is learning how to navigate AutoCAD,” said Amy. “I have an extensive background with other mapping software, so it’s been a learning curve, but a good one.”
In her free time, Amy enjoys spending time with her dog Tucker and being by the water. After graduation, she would like to find a job involving GIS and/or wetland work.
