Exercising Ingenuity: An Engineering Workout

Getting a pad-ready site produced for a two-story LA Fitness health club at 615 Pawtucket Ave., Pawtucket, R.I., was quite a workout! The new location marks LA Fitness’ 3rd Rhode Island store. The site is located in two municipalities — Providence and Pawtucket — and required the demolition of a multi-level building, abatement work and a retaining wall, among other challenges.

DiPrete collaborated with many entities including The Procaccianti Group, Studio 222 Architects, Northstar Project & Real Estate Services, GZA GeoEnvironmental, Sage Environmental, Odeh Engineers, Creative Environment SiteTech and Gleeson Constructors to get the 45,000-square-foot health club open for business.

DiPrete Engineering completed the initial ALTA/ACSM Land Title Survey, worked through the conceptual planning to achieve the tenant’s request for parking with the appropriate square footage while meeting the requirements for landscaping stormwater management, state and local regulatory permitting, construction documentation, and construction administration.

“We were able to accomplish all of this while meeting requirements for landscaping and stormwater management,” said Nicole Reilly, Senior Project Manager at DiPrete, “as well as state and local regulatory permitting, construction documentation and construction administration.”
